who were knights

Knights were people granted an honorary title of knighthood by a monarch or other political leader.  They were granted this title to serve there monarch or political leader.  Knight were one of three fighting men.  Knights, foot soldiers, and archers.  Knights were essentially the tanks of the middle ages they had the heaviest armor and artillery.  So they were the best protected against attacks.  They also had the most experienced in combat.
